Our Journey

Australian Vintage has a proud heritage and rich history of strong brands founded by passionate winemaking families.

This legacy is the result of the energy and commitment of the family who started it, the McGuigans.  Four generations of the McGuigan family have made wine their life, shaping some of Australia's greatest wine brands, including two of our own - McGuigan and Tempus Two.  The Miranda and Nepenthe brands have also been built on the spirit of two other great Australian winemaking families: the Mirandas and the Tweddells respectively. Meet the families who have contributed to the making of Australian Vintage.

The 2002 merger of McGuigan Wines with Simeon Wines created a new company who immediately became Australia's fourth largest ASX-listed wine business boasting a profile of six modern wineries, the ability to produce 127 million litres of wine per annum and the direct management of 3,860 hectares of vineyards.  It also became a major exporter of Australian wine to 20 countries worldwide.

The establishment of McGuigan Simeon as a world class Australian-based wine business and a significant and growing competitor in the Australian and global market was largely due to the company's capacity to specialise in both branded and contract winemaking on boutique and scale levels.  The branded portfolio in particular was enhanced by the purchases of Miranda Wines in 2003 and Nepenthe in 2007.

In January 2008, with the support of the Board and brand founders, McGuigan Simeon re-branded as Australian Vintage Limited integrating all of our business operations and communicating our company's commitment to great Australian wine.
