May 21, 2008: Tempus Two’s Copper Moscato was last night announced in UK wine critic Matthew Jukes’s 100 Best Australian Wines for 2008. This annual independent list was compiled through extensive tastings in Australia and the UK over the past twelve months. Only wines available in the UK are considered for this list and must score more than 18/20 in Jukes’s notes to stand a chance of making the shortlist. Tempus Two creator Lisa McGuigan is thrilled with the recognition by Jukes, who has previously recommended the Copper Wilde Chardonnay. McGuigan says that the Moscato is a versatile wine, made in the true Italian Moscato di Asti style with a delicate kiwifruit nose and flavours of freshly crushed grapes. “Moscato was the perfect addition to our Copper range of handcrafted wines. Proudly wearing a unique label of stamped copper, this range extends the distinctive nature of Tempus Two by offering a range that introduces blends of varieties and regions.” Copper Moscato is made from white frontignac grapes, which were harvested at highly concentrated levels to maintain the delicate grape flavours. Chief Winemaker, Liz Jackson, says the challenge was to get the right balance of frizzante and delicate sugar with refined fruit acids. “We set out to make a sophisticated wine that can move as easily from brunch to a pre-dinner drink or dessert,” Jackson says. “The sugar and acid balance give the wine its character.” Echoing Lisa McGuigan’s sentiments at the recognition, Jackson added: “It’s great to see that wine drinkers are embracing different styles, especially ones like moscato that are reflective of Australia’s outdoor lifestyle.” One of the UK’s most influential wine critics, Matthew Jukes’s specialist area is Australia. He also writes for London’s The Daily Mail, authors The Wine List (an annual wine guide), publishes wine web guide www.expertwine.com and is a buyer for Bibendum Restaurant and Oyster Bar in London. He also produces annual reports on Bordeaux and Burgundy each year. Tempus Two Copper Moscato is available nationally for rrp $19.99. The Copper range also includes: Wilde Chardonnay, Mélange à Trois (Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier) and Cabernet Merlot.Return
