Melbourne - October 8, 2008: Melburnians have arrived to work today to the stunning transformation of City Square from an urban jungle into a lush, living and breathing country vineyard.Fresh from showcasing their McGuigan City Vineyard installation in Sydney and London, McGuigan Wines founder Brian McGuigan and winemakers Thomas Jung, James Evers and Peter Hall are in Melbourne this week to share their vines and wines with Victorians in this engaging environment.Brian McGuigan celebrates the opening of the McGuigan City Vineyard in Melbourne.The interactive vineyard will be live until Saturday evening, allowing Victorian wine lovers to try the McGuigan portfolio of wines. The winemakers are on hand at the Cellar Door for tastings and wine appreciation sessions, whilst daily live music sets enhance the relaxed ambient environment.Brian McGuigan is thrilled to be bringing the McGuigan City Vineyard to Melbourne and showcasing the brand to Victorians. He is passionate about great Australian wine and the diversity of the country’s wine regions, saying: “Victorians love their wine and Victorian winemakers make wines that complement our own. During this activity we have the opportunity to engage with Victorian wine lovers in a beautiful vineyard environment.”“Our philosophy is to create wines that are fresh, light, textured and with layers of flavour. Our home is the Hunter Valley but we have vineyards all across South-Eastern Australia” said Mr. McGuigan. “We must always be in step with the changing tastes and demands of consumers, and our Discover range is testament to that,” commenting that some wines from the Discover range hail from Victoria and South Australia. He added that visitors to the McGuigan City Vineyard will be some of the firstin the country to try the 2008 vintage releases of Discover’s Moscato, Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. The 2006 Shiraz Viognier will also be available.Brian McGuigan’s firm belief is that wine producers must stay in touch with the ever-changing consumer wine trends, saying “right now it’s about floral whites and plummy reds and this is what we are delivering with the Discover range.
