McGuigan Wines Riesling Blitzes Royal Adelaide Wine Show

Adelaide, October 10, 2008: McGuigan Wines was today awarded five trophies at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show for its 2005 Earth's Portrait Riesling.

Receiving top recognition as ‘Winemaker of the Most Outstanding Red or White Wine In Show’, the wine’s creator Thomas Jung also won trophies for ‘Best Riesling In Show’, ‘Best White Wine Under $20’, ‘Best White Wine In Show’ and the major trophy for ‘Most Outstanding Red or White Wine in Show’.

McGuigan Earth’s Portrait Riesling shows wonderful toasty characters and the 2005 vintage is an excellent example of wines produced in the Eden Valley.  This wine has aged gracefully and has truly come into its own.

It’s been a busy week for Thomas who flew to Adelaide today direct from Melbourne where he’s been promoting the McGuigan portfolio of wines at a unique consumer event, the McGuigan City Vineyard.

Live at Melbourne’s City Square until Saturday, the McGuigan City Vineyard has allowed Thomas, McGuigan Wines founder, Brian McGuigan and winemaking colleagues James Evers and Peter Hall the chance to transform an urban space into a lush country vineyard.

The McGuigan winemaking team have brought their vines and wines to Melbourne’s CBD to offer wine lovers the chance to meet them, experience the hospitality of the McGuigan Cellar Door and try their range of wines all in a memorable and ambient setting.
